Scientific
Based Laboratory Tests
Targeted testing to identify exactly what your body needs.
Each
person is different and one size does not fit all. Billions of dollars
are spent each year on the latest health craze and the next new miracle
vitamin. Those may be well and good but it is like shooting in the dark
when it comes down to individual health. At Balanced Chiropractic, we
offer a variety of high quality testing, including: blood work, adrenal
stress, thyroid, female hormones, gastrointestinal health, male
hormones, post-menopausal health, pH panel. All of this testing can
help us map out a customized plan to heal your body and get you back to
optimum health.
Blood
Work - Get a comprehensive report indicating your vitamin and
mineral deficiencies simply by giving Dr. Kart a copy of blood work
reports from your regular Doctor. Traditionally western medicine does
not "flag" items on blood work as a risk until the health condition is
much worse. These reports will help you identify deficiencies and take
a more proactive approach by heading off problems before they get
worse. If your condition is advanced, this information can also get you
on the path to optimum health by providing information most medical
professionals don't even examine.
Adrenal
Stress Testing - Your adrenal glands produce hormones that
help your body to cope with stress. Under chronic stress these glands
become fatigued, impairing hormone production and balance. To resolve
stress-related symptoms and health problems, the adrenal problems must
be balanced. This important test identifies the impact of chronic
stress. It is an inexpensive, easy-to-use saliva test that evaluates
the adrenal glands and indentifies hormone imbalances by evaluating
cortisol and DHEA levels.
Thyroid
Panel - The thyroid gland is a very important gland at the
front of the neck that secretes several life sustaining hormones
directly into circulation and is controlled by the pituitary gland in
the brain. Major functions of the thyroid include regulating metabolic
rates, carbohydrate metabolism, and fat metabolism. Low thyroid can
cause sleepiness throughout the day while hyperthyroid people often
feel tired, yet they cannot sleep well. Both reduced and excessive
thyroid hormone levels lead to reduced libido in both sexes. This
simple saliva test is economical and can help you identify imbalances
that are often easy to correct.
Female
Hormone Panel - This test is simple, non-invasive test where
eleven saliva samples are collected during specified time periods
during the menstrual cycle. Estrogen, progesterone, testosterone and
DHEA are measured in the profile. Imbalances associated with PMS,
infertility and fibroids can be readily detected by this panel which
provides specific feedback for the treatment of hormonal imbalances.
Gastrointestinal
Health Panels - Presently, the risk of being infected or
infested by pathogenic organisms through food and water is ever
increasing. This is due to several reasons: immigration; frequent
overseas travel; importation of vegetables and fruits; lack of a public
health policy to screen food handlers; outdoor excursions; alternate
lifestyles; agriculture pollution; pets at home, etc. Considering all
parasites, more that of the earth's population is infected at any one
time. Intestinal pathogen infections cannot be clinically
differentiated solely on the basis of medical history, physical exam
and/or symptoms. Specific diagnosis requires laboratory evaluation and
confirmation. Most laboratory tests require a stool sample that will
undergo parasite screening that identifies asymptomatic, mild
symptomatic and overt GI pathogen infections that can affect and deter
gastrointestinal function, and, if undetected, will lead to chronic
illness.
Male
Hormone Panels - Hormone imbalances in men are often
overlooked, but a more careful evaluation in males shows progressive
age-related changes including: decreased muscle, decreased vigor,
decreased libido, insomnia, nervousness, and hair loss. These changes
usually begin in the fourth and fifth decades and point towards hormone
imbalances and deficiencies which may be considered the male equivalent
of menopause (the andropause). Baseline measurements will show normal
and abnormal levels of six distinct hormones (DHEA, androstenedione,
testosterone, dihydrotestosterone, estrone & progesterone).
Result from your saliva samples can lead to an individualized and
customized treatment plan using natural hormones.
Post
Menopausal Health Panels - Menopause is neither a disease nor
an illness; it is a natural and usually gradual change in glandular
function. Common symptoms of menopause include migraines, hot flashes,
emotional fragility and irregular periods. Doctors often treat with
regular natural estrogens, but do not do testing to determine
quantities or types of hormones that will met your specific needs. The
symptoms are under control, but your risks include increased blood
pressure, endometrial cancer, fibroid growth, gallbladder disease, and
increased risk of breast cancer. This test gives a comprehensive
picture by testing for male and female hormones-one, two, six or eight
of them depending on the need. A simple saliva test will measure
testosterone, DHEA, progesterone, estriol, estrone, estradiol,
dihydrotestosterone, and androtsetosterone.
pH
Panels - In scientific circles, pH stands for "potential of
Hydrogen," but as far as your body is concerned you could say it's your
"potential for health!" The acidity or alkalinity of your body is
measured in terms of pH. The more acid a solution, the lower the pH
number, and the more alkaline, the higher the number. You can test the
pH of a substance by using strips of chemically treated paper. If your
urine or saliva are too acid, your body will need alkalizing minerals
in order to buffer that acid and survive the caustic effects. Most
fruits and vegetables leave an alkaline "ash" after digestion and
therefore replenish the alkaline mineral reserve in your body. Foods
such as meats, starches and dairy products produce and acid "ash" which
the body must buffer with alkaline minerals. You do not need to become
a vegetarian, but eating a diet of about 75% fruits and vegetables is
best.
